Alerta. El huracán Lorenzo, de categoría 5.
A primera hora del domingo, 29 de septiembre de 2019, el huracán Lorenzo se convertía en un poderoso huracán de categoría 5, la máxima en la escala, con vientos máximos sostenidos de 257 kilómetros por hora (160 millas por hora). En ese momento, se encontraba a unos 2.188 kilómetros (1.360 millas) al sudoeste de Azores. Todo ello después de perder un poco de fuerza entre el 26 y 27 de septiembre de 2019, cuando era un huracán de categoría 4 y pasaba a una categoría 3, el sábado, 28 de septiembre, como resultado de haber perdido su bien desarrollado ojo que, por cierto, ha vuelto a formarse. A las 09:45 (UTC), tenía una presión barométrica de 925 mbar.
Previsiones meteorológicas acerca del huracán Lorenzo.
Las previsiones meteorológicas indican que Lorenzo descargará una gran cantidad de lluvia en el oeste de Azores y en el centro, el martes y miércoles de esta próxima semana, siendo altamente probable que se produzcan inundaciones repentinas peligrosas, según ha pronosticado el Centro Nacional de Huracanes de los Estados Unidos que, además, lo ha calificado como el huracán más grande y potente que haya llegado tan al norte y al este en la cuenca del Atlántico.
El núcleo de Lorenzo contiene un ojo bien formado que se ha intensificado brevemente en una tormenta de categoría 5, aunque se espera que se vaya debilitando conforme alcanza las Azores. En comparación con el huracán Dorian, Lorenzo es algo menos potente, sin embargo, sigue siendo un huracán monstruoso y todavía existe cierta incertidumbre en cuanto a su evolución en el futuro.
Algunos modelos de pronóstico climático prevén que seguirá su camino como un huracán de categoría 5 durante al menos otras 48 horas, mientras que otros sostienen que bajará de intensidad a una categoría 4 o una categoría 3. De todos modos, con resultado de todas las características que lo acompañan, Lorenzo seguirá siendo un sistema tormentoso al que temer.
Previsones de la trayectoria del huracán Lorenzo
En las previsiones de trayectoria para esta próxima semana, todo parece indicar que, después de pasar por las Azores, Lorenzo seguirá su camino hacia el Reino Unido, donde descargará lluvias torrenciales muy intensas, acompañadas de vientos huracanados, y activará un clima adverso extremo, el jueves.
La Oficina de Meteorología del Reino Unido ya ha advertido acerca de lo que se avecina, calificándolo como una “verdadera bestia”.
Alerta. El huracán Lorenzo, de categoría 5. En el Reino Unido se han activado alertas amarillas por lluvias el domingo. Lluvias que serán persistentes hasta el punto de causar inundaciones en el noroeste y sudoeste de Inglaterra y Gales. Como resultado de ello, áreas como Devon y Cornwall podrían sufrir olas grandes y vientos intensos hasta provocar una marejada muy fuerte. Las alertas incluyen Liverpool, Bangor, Swansea, Cardiff y Manchester.
Resumiendo, todo parece indicar que, durante la temporada de huracanes del océano Atlántico, no solo las costas de Norteamérica, Centroamérica o Sudamérica, reciben estos huracanes, sino que pueden viajar hacia el continente europeo.
