En un escenario catastrófico, en el que la erupción del volcán Cumbre Vieja ya ha destruido cientos de casas, una casa ha sobrevivido a las coladas de lava que la han rodeado de manera espectacular. Conocida ahora como la “casa milagro”, su historia está dando la vuelta al mundo.
La casa, blanca y con tejas rojas, fue diseñada por una mujer holandesa, Ada Monnikendam, quien reside en la isla de La Palma desde 1976. Ella y su marido crearon la empresa que construyó esta casa hace treinta años para una pareja danesa. Los propietarios de la casa, ya mayores, no viven en ella desde que comenzó la pandemia, pero conocen a todos los vecinos de la zona. Y, aunque según su diseñadora, están aliviados porque aún permanece en pie, no dejan de llorar por la pérdida de casas que han sufrido todos sus vecinos.
La casa se encuentra situada en una zona conocida como “El Paraíso”. Más de la mitad de las casas que había y un colegio local han quedado destruidos por completo.
La pareja de danesas que son propietarios de la “casa milagro” han vivido en ella durante 30 años y afirman que han sido muy felices en ella.
