Según han informado desde el Instituto Geográfico Nacional de España, esta mañana se han registrado seis terremotos en la zona afectada por la reactivación del volcán Cumbre Vieja, en La Palma. Estos terremotos no han superado los 2,9 grados de magnitud, con una profundidad de 10 kilómetros.
En estos momentos, el volcán cuenta con dos bocas activas: el cono principal y otra justo debajo. La más reciente sigue su camino hacia el mar. Desgraciadamente, la lava ahora es más fluida y avanza a mayor velocidad, si bien estas condiciones son cambiantes y pueden variar de un momento a otro.
Desde el Instituto Geográfico Nacional se ha activado esta mañana un nuevo aviso para la aviación civil debido al aumento en la emisión de cenizas volcánicas desde el volcán y la altitud que ha alcanzado la nube de 7 kilómetros.
Durante las últimas horas, la lava ha quemado una zona de plataneras y plásticos de invernaderos, así como fertilizantes, creando una nube tóxica ya diluida que no ha supuesto riesgo alguno para las personas, debido a que se ha mantenido la zona de exclusión. Esta nube tóxica, compuesta por amoniaco y tricloruro de boro, entre otros compuestos, fueron analizados por la Unidad Militar de Emergencias, obligando a evacuar a las personas que se encontraban cerca, que habían sido autorizadas a retirar enseres y productos perecederos.
Desde todos los estamentos, incluido desde AlertaTierra.com, se sigue pidiendo a la población que se mantenga una distancia mínima de 2,5 kilómetros con respecto a los centros de emisión del volcán, con el fin de evitar el riesgo de impacto de piroclastos y exposición a los gases. No obstante, en las zonas más afectadas por la intensa caída de cenizas, se recomienda permanecer en espacios interiores y mantener el radio de exclusión antes mencionado.
Los expertos indican que la colada de lava podría llegar al mar en las próximas horas, por lo que se pide a la población más cercana que permanezca confinada y que NO SALGAN al exterior. Es fundamental que se mantengan seguros en el interior de sus viviendas.
Según el seguimiento del satélite del programa Copernicus de la Unión Europea, la lava ya ha cubierto una extensión de 258 hectáreas, ha arrasado al menos 686 edificaciones y 22,2 kilómetros de carreteras (hasta las 06:50 horas del 27 de septiembre).
Con respecto al alcance de la nube de cenizas volcánicas, según los cambios del viento de este martes, es posible que llegue a la isla de La Gomera y Tenerife, aunque un cambio de vientos de norte-sur esta misma tarde podría hacer que lleguen cenizas a El Hierro. Independientemente de la dirección del viento, todas las Islas Canarias deben permanecer muy atentas al transcurso de los acontecimientos y protegerse de la posible inhalación de cenizas volcánicas.
Durante estos 10 días desde su erupción, el volcán Cumbre Vieja ya ha lanzado más lava que el volcán Teneguía en 1971.
El Gobierno estudia poner en marcha un plan de recuperación de La Palma, declarándola como zona gravemente afectada como emergencia de protección civil para que todos los Ministerios puedan atender la emergencia. Una vez termina la erupción, se llevará a cabo una evaluación de daños para comenzar la fase de recuperación de La Palma.
